Message from Marek:


The first ever Byzantine-Chinese Reading Group starts on Wednesday! We will begin with the section on Fulin 拂菻國, that is probably (East) Rome, from the chapter 198 of Jiu Tangshu (Old Tang Annals 舊唐書). There is a translation in Hirth, China and the Roman Orient ( ), but we will move to untranslated texts later on. We will be guided by Yegor Grebnev (JRF in Merton) who very generously accepted to co-convene the group. Yegor knows Chinese, no one else does – so everyone is welcome! Contact for more details.
